Equine Therapy

....................................................

Our two facilities have incorporated an Equine Therapy program to assist the girls we care for with a variety of issues they may be dealing with as every child that arrives has some type of problem to either overcome or learn to cope with.

Equine therapy, which is currently used by such facilities as Sierra Tucson, Horse Sense of the Carolinas, and Visions in Malibu, is a successful mental health component in individual therapy, family therapy, and cooperative teem building.

Equine Therapy is a method of using horses to enhance emotional growth and learning. It teaches patterns of communication, behaviors, and relationships.

The individual client becomes aware of non-verbal communication and body language.

In groups they learn team work, problem solving, and leadership.

Depending on the individual problem, the therapist may address such issues as eating disorder, peer pressure, anger issues, substance abuse, honesty, and family dynamics to name a few.

As you can probably tell, This is a most important program with many benefits.

Kids To Kids has received 5 horses for our program. The donations were greatly appreciated; however, the upkeep of the animals along with the need for riding equipment has led us to ask for your help. We are in need of saddles, bridles, riding helmets, halters, etc.

We are also looking for individuals who may be interested in sponsoring a particular horse for one year at $200.00 per month.

Should you have any further questions about this program please feel free to contact our office at (805) 649-8761 or our Equine Therapist, Ms. Patty Wallace at (805) 233-4939.
